Zet
Zet is the third generation of our breeding program at Golden Ridge and represents the continuation of our commitment to preserving the West German Showline German Shepherd as a functional, structurally correct, and mentally stable working companion. He is a masculine male of very good type, combining strength, substance, and elegance with the harmonious proportions essential to effortless movement.
Standing naturally, Zet presents a dry, firm overall picture with excellent breed expression. He displays a rich, solid black pigmentation carried through every part of his body, accentuated by a dense, luxurious stock coat that provides both protection and an unmistakably striking appearance. His coat lies correctly and gives him exceptional presence without obscuring his outline.
His head is one of his defining characteristics. It is strong and expressive with very good breadth between the ears, a powerful muzzle, excellent underjaw, and dark almond-shaped eyes that convey intelligence and confidence. His ears are firm, correctly carried, and complete the noble, masculine expression expected of a quality German Shepherd male.
Viewed in profile, Zet exhibits very good proportions with a long, well-defined wither flowing smoothly into a firm, strong back. His topline appears continuous and stable, transitioning into a long, well-laid croup that contributes to efficient transmission of power through the hindquarters. His neck is of good length, dry, and well muscled, blending harmoniously into a powerful forehand.
His forequarters are clean and substantial with strong bone and correct front assembly. The shoulder and upper arm appear well coordinated, allowing for good forward reach, while the forelegs are straight and supported by firm, resilient pasterns. His chest displays good depth with sufficient forechest development, giving the impression of strength without coarseness.
The hindquarters are broad, powerful, and well muscled with balanced angulation that complements the front assembly. The thighs show excellent muscle development and the hocks appear firm and stable, providing the strength necessary for endurance and efficient propulsion. His overall construction creates a dog that is built to work rather than simply stand.
Even while relaxed, Zet carries himself with natural confidence and self-assurance. He displays excellent ligamentation, substantial bone, and the type of structural harmony that allows each part of the dog to complement the next. The overall impression is one of power, athleticism, and functional efficiency.
His temperament mirrors his physical qualities. Zet is self-confident with clear nerves and exceptional environmental stability. He is naturally protective without unnecessary sharpness, demonstrating calm discernment and steady judgment. Around his family he is affectionate, intuitive, and deeply devoted, possessing the rare ability to transition effortlessly from dependable guardian to gentle companion. He is intelligent, highly observant, and reads human cues with remarkable accuracy, making him a pleasure to live with and train.
His pedigree is anchored by generations of proven German breeding. Through his paternal line he descends from influential sires including Rio dei Colli Storici, Fritz von Oasis, Cronos del Seprio, Remo vom Fichtenschlag, Ray vom Fichtenschlag, Dux de Cuatro Flores, Hill vom Farbenspiel, Huppy von Arlett, and ultimately Horand von Grafrath, the foundation of the German Shepherd Dog. His maternal line through the Mecklenburg, Heinrichplatz, Ochsentor, and Götzberg families contributes generations of exceptional females known for producing sound structure, stable character, and consistent breed type.
Zet embodies the qualities we value most at Golden Ridge: a masculine male of very good type, excellent pigmentation, substantial structure, harmonious proportions, clear temperament, and functional anatomy. He is a dog whose beauty is supported by purpose, whose confidence is balanced by stability, and whose presence reflects the timeless principles of the German Shepherd Dog as envisioned by the SV standard.
